During your stay in la Manche, be sure to visit the iconic Maison du Biscuit in Sortosville-en-Beaumont. The shop, with its olde worlde decor, is crammed full of tasty treats. The biscuits are made on-site and plenty of other delicious artisanal products are also available. If you’re a bit peckish, stop in the tea room to sample the wares. There are also biscuit factories that are worth a visit in Quinéville and Sainte-Mère-Église.

A vintage setting in the heart of the Manche

Prepare for a treat at La Maison du Biscuit, with its charming facades decorated to look like a 1900s street. Inside, the vintage decor will take you back in time and the delicious smell of baking will tickle your taste buds!
La Maison du Biscuit dates back to 1905 and is one of the last artisanal biscuit factories in Normandy. It’s a family business, and the Burnouf family have been passing on their biscuit-making expertise for five generations.

Biscuits made in la Manche

In the factory next to the shop, the team makes all sorts of sweet treats: financiers, chocolate chip, caramel and hazelnut cookies, sponge fingers, coconut macaroons, brownies, raisin cakes and shortbread. All the biscuits are “home-made” and use local ingredients wherever possible.
You’ll also find lots of other artisanal products at the Maison du Biscuit, including chocolates, deli foods and teas. Be sure to stock up on scrumptious souvenirs before you head home.

A tasty break in the tea room

While you’re at La Maison du Biscuit, why not take a break in the tea room next to the shop? If you love a cuppa, take your pick from the great range of teas on offer. In autumn, indulge yourself in the special hot chocolate. Drinks are served with several house specialities. Sit down and relax while you enjoy a tasty treat! Every Sunday morning, the tea room at La Maison du Biscuit serves breakfast from 9.00 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. Tuck in to their delicious home-made brioche and local jams.

La Maison du Biscuit is a must-see in la Manche, but other biscuit factories in the area are well worth a visit too.

La biscuiterie de Quinéville 

Here you can try lots of delicious specialities made using local products, including the “Cotentine” tart. With meringues, chocolates, shortbread biscuits, tarts and jars of salted caramel, there are treats for all tastes at the Biscuiterie de Quinéville. The biscuit factory also has a tea room next to the shop, where you can stop for a sweet treat. There’s a second shop in Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue that also sells regional delicacies.

La biscuiterie de Sainte-Mère-Église 

In this town famous for the D-Day events, try the specialities from the Biscuiterie de Sainte-Mère-Eglise: the parachute shaped shortbread biscuits and the “petit-para”.This place is a haven for foodies, and makes its artisanal biscuits on site using local products, including butter and Isigny caramel.
The Biscuiterie de Sainte-Mère-Eglise has several areas for visitors to explore, with the shop and cellar, where you’ll find a range of local products, including cider, calvados and pommeau, and the chocolate shop. Take a break in the tea room or the restaurant to sample the treats on offer.
