At the start of this 16 km stage, take in the exceptional views of Nez de Jobourg, an unmissable site in La Manche, with cliffs that are some of the highest in continental Europe. On a clear day, you can see all the way to the Channel Islands of Alderney, Sark, Jersey and Guernsey.
The path continues in a rollercoaster along the rugged coast of La Hague, which looks rather like Ireland. Take a break in Herqueville, at the Treize Vents viewpoint. From there, you have one of the most beautiful views in La Manche, with the wild and unspoilt coastline on one side, and the vast Vauville bay with its endless dunes on the other.
A short stop in Vauville is a must, with its château and botanical garden, and its 12th to 15th century priory and church. A bit further down, you can see the Vauville wetlands. These freshwater marshes are protected from the sea by a narrow strip of dunes measuring just 50 m in width. The Vauville nature reserve is home to 2 300 species, and access is free, but specific regulations must be followed. As you leave the village, take the path up the hill and continue along the GR overlooking the dunes and the sea. (If you prefer, you can continue along the vast beach, following the coastal right-of-way).
The breathtaking destination of this stage is just a few kilometres further on, in the fragile dunes of Biville, which reach up to 100 m in height. This is the perfect place to admire the sun setting over the sea and lighting up the endless dune landscape: a magical moment!
Please protect this fragile natural environment: no camping or campfires.
