Réserve Naturelle de Vauville

Created in 1976 and managed by the GONm since 1983, this 60 hectare area is located in the north-west of the Cotentin region. The Mare de Vauville National Nature Reserve is a protected natural site of prime importance in the Manche department. Consisting of a vast freshwater pond isolated from the sea by a narrow dune barrier, the Vauville reserve is home to more than 2300 species. Access to the nature reserve is free but specific regulations must be respected. From the entrance to the reserve located behind the Vauville municipal campsite, take the marked path, open your eyes, listen carefully and let yourself be guided to the observatory by the many birds, amphibians, dune and wetland plants. To the south of the marked path, a path takes you between willows and plums where an ornithological observatory welcomes you to help you discover the many inhabitants of the pond.
Guided tours are also offered throughout the year by the reserve's curator.
