Lieu LE MONT-SAINT-MICHEL

While Mont Saint-Michel is renowned for its historical heritage, the bay that surrounds it harbors extraordinary biodiversity. The mudflats and salt meadows that stretch as far as the eye can see are home to a host of birds, including the elegant avocet, a graceful wading bird that feeds on small invertebrates, and the osprey, a fish-eating bird of prey rare in Western France. In spring, a small toad - the spotted pelodyte - will surprise you with its song reminiscent of a creaking door!

The foreshore is home to a specific flora. Halophilic plants are the staple diet of animals grazing on the grasslands, such as the famous salt meadow sheep. Other species such as calf seals and white bottlenose dolphins thrive in the bay.
