World music - Les Dames de La Joliette.
Women's songs, songs of struggle Marseille's popular port district, La Joliette, is steeped in working-class memory and world cultures. This is where the five singers
five singers, each from a different side of the Mediterranean. Drawing on traditional, polyphonic, Provençal, Greek, Italian and Berber music, they deliver songs that have been collected and revisited, as well as original compositions honoring women fighters and resistance fighters.
Strong and powerful, Les Dames de La Joliette take us into their battles, cross swords and challenge each other on pandeiro, tamureddu and bongos. The men are not spared. Women at work, war songs, love poems, Les Dames de La Joliette are the heirs of all those women, poets and women of the world, who fought like their illustrious elders in Marseille?s "Bastion des Dames".
