If the wind picks up, the Greeks, led by Agamemnon, can set sail to attack Troy. But to do so, the young Iphigenia must be sacrificed. The gods have decided.
But what if Iphigénie could change her fate? Directed by Anne Théron, Tiago Rodrigues?s text revisits the ancient myth by confronting the inescapable.
"The gods are a fable told to us to remind us differently of what really happened," declares Clytemnestra. So the gods don't exist. This new Iphigénie is about free will. It's about choice. And let's stop saying that it's the gods who make us act.
On the surface, the tragedy will end in the same way, but it will be fundamentally new in that it will be determined by the will of the characters.
This new text by Tiago Rodrigues offers a fascinating vision of the present and of memory, magnified by beautiful staging, set design, costumes, lighting, soundscape and video work.
And all this, embodied by a cast of 9 admirable actors!
Running time: 1 hour 35 minutes.
