ever since I was a child, I've been immersed in tales of abandoned dolmens, of tombs without bodies or epitaphs, from which a "Red Hand" emerges, grabbing you and dragging you to the bottom of the sea. Today, my paintings draw on this fertile ground: symbols, folklore, presences and other chimeras?
This exhibition follows on from Vincent Girard?s three-week artistic residency in Gavray-sur-Sienne, during which the artist collected stories linked to local folklore, tales and legends, unexplained, strange tales experienced by local residents? Hosted by the Maison du Tourisme in July 2023 as part of Soudain l?été prochain (DRAC Normandie?s Été culturel program implemented by RN13BIS), this residency enabled the artist to meet many people, who are now curious to discover the works created by the artist based on their stories.
A 2021 graduate of ésam caen/Cherbourg, Vincent Girard lives and works in Rennes.
