The "Images" exhibition was conceived by the Frac Normandie from works by artists from 2010-2020 who have recently entered its collections: Nina Childress, Anthony D. Green, Wade Guyton, Pierre Joseph, Trevor Paglen, Julia Scher. The exhibition explores the nature of the image in the age of digital reproduction.
The title "Images" is a reference to the "Pictures" exhibition organized in New York in 1977 by art critic Douglas Crimp. Subsequently, the name "Pictures Generation" came to designate American artists who, at the turn of the 1970s-1980s, used existing images in their own work.
At Point du Jour, historic works by Sherrie Levine, Cindy Sherman and Jack Goldstein are presented, from the collections of Frac Grand-Large, Frac Pays-de-Loire and Institut d?art contemporain de Villeurbanne. Thanks to the support of Galerie Thaddaeus-Ropac, two recent works by Robert Longo echo a 2013 piece by Louise Lawler, held at Frac Franche-Comté.
