Summer festivities on the anniversary of the D-Day landings

July - August: D-Day commemorations in Normandy


The 75th anniversary of the Normandy landings continues in July and August in Manche. During the summer holidays, come to Normandy and join in the festivities commemorating the liberation of France and the Battle of Normandy.


Here are a few suggestions:



6 & 7 July: Re-enactment of a military camp in Sainte-Suzanne-sur-Vire

6 & 7 July: Sound and light show followed by a firework display in Orglandes

17 July: Quiz and games in Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët and its reconstruction

18 July: Ceremony followed by the Liberation Ball in Saint-Lô

19 July: Historical hike, "In the footsteps of the liberators around La Haye", alongside a historian

19 July: Liberation train in Barneville-Carteret, sky lantern launch and bonfires on the beach

20 July: Evening with the "Champs de Bataille" documentary series at the cinema in Pirou (screening of the episode "Hedgerow Hell")

25 July: Thematic tour of Lessay Abbey in 1944 and after 

27 July: Parade of military vehicles, interactive exhibition, 1940s themed dance

27 to 29 July: Military camp in Donville-les-Bains with around 40 vehicles and men in period dress

31 July: Liberation day in Avranches

31 July to 4 August: Piper Operation Cobra >> all the information on this exceptional air show



1 to 4 August: Avranchin Festival

2 August: Hike: "In the footsteps of the liberators around Lessay "
